Steno 2 does not operate its own servers and does not store or transmit user data outside your Apple account. All syncing and storage is handled securely through Apple’s CloudKit and iCloud. Your documents remain private, tied to your Apple ID, and under your control. The app itself has no ability to read or share your data — it only stores what you explicitly create inside your iCloud account.
If you disable iCloud, all content stays entirely on your device. No third-party services are used for storage or analytics.
You may also import and export files to and from Steno. These files are only saved where you explicitly choose (for example, in iCloud Drive, on-device storage, or another location you select). The app does not transmit exported files to us or to third parties.
This app does not collect or transmit any personal data to us or to third parties. All data is either stored locally on your device or securely synced via Apple’s iCloud and CloudKit services. Access to your data is managed entirely by your Apple ID and Apple’s privacy protections.
We do not run servers, do not use analytics or tracking frameworks, and do not display ads. Your documents and personal information remain private and under your control at all times.
